Anchor
Mill Inn is located on Jackson street near the historic
property owned in the 1860's by Christopher Schaaf. This was the first
mill in the Augusta area used to grind wheat into flour. The mill
was operated with water from Sehrt Creek which runs across this property.
In later years the family added a general store, freight hauling,
and a livery service. Augusta Anchor Mill was a very important enterprise
for the transportation and commercial life of Augusta, as well as
the lives of the residents. |
